Centenary Week 2006
2006 marked the Hall's one hundredth birthday. Celebrations began with a Grand Opening Concert on 22nd July.
Excellent posters, designed by pupils of Glen Urquhart High School, ensured plenty of folk attended the programme of events. These included a guided walk around the old Balmacaan estate which was much enjoyed by Bradley Martin's descendants, as was the Exhibition and the Reception for them at the Town House. The Fancy Dress Parade was enjoyed by all and featured in the Press & Journal, and the open sessions for Bowling, Badminton and Junior Shinty went down a treat. The Young Bands' Night was enthusiastically received, too.
The Guided Walk
The Centenary Ball was highly successful with a delicious light buffet provided by Loch Ness Catering. Sandy Whyte's excellent idea of bowling pound coins at the bottle of whisky raised over £60 for Hall Funds in ten minutes. It's not often you see half the Glen throwing their money away with such abandon...

The EXHIBITION was busy, especially the evening sessions.
More photos of the fun can be seen on the Glen Urquhart Newsletter pages, here.
If you took photos during the week, we'd love to have copies - after all, there'll no doubt be another exhibition in 2106! let us know through the Feedback page.
Many thanks to our funders and all who sponsored, donated or contributed food, drink, and raffle prizes.

*Special thanks to Rab Gordon of Rainnea Graphics for the new signboard for the Hall which should last out the next century, being hand carved from wood donated by Mhairhi Gordon, Lochletter; to Geordie Macdonald-Haig for the fine banner, and to all the local artists who sang, danced, played or recited at the Concert. *
