They bring zest and dash to traditional tunes with their close rapport and effortlessly brilliant musicianship. See interview on Hi-Arts here. Thanks, Mike and Ali, for an amazing evening's entertainment, one of the best ever here at the Hall - terrific perfomances.
"Novecento" by Alessandro Baricco, translated by Joseph Farrell, performed by Mike Maran. directed by Patrick Sandford with music by Dave Milligan."The transatlantic liner buzzes with rumours about its extraordinary pianist. They say he was born on the ship and never once disembarked. Nobody knows why......". Truly "an extraordinarily memorable, unmissable evening of theatre-magic" (Somerset Gazette)
Ruth Wall "The Uncommon Harp"Ruth Wall played both the 33-string Scottish lever harp or Clarsach and a Bray Harp, the type played 500 years ago; its dramatically different 'buzzy' sound arises because the strings are attached to little hooks on the frame. Seductive, mesmeric, original music, and an unforgettable evening.
Chilling, thrilling adventures in roots'n'reel and song, from a very relaxed quartet of superb musicians who've been playing together for 11 years. You could feel the audience's feet tapping, softly at first, but by the end they were stamping. With added stepdancing, too. Wonderful!

Pat's had it with waiting for her husband to put in a sink; 72 year old Mary is obsessed with paint colours, and single mum Katerina thinks D.I.Y. is her road to independence......
Written by Yasmin Reza, translated by Christopher Hampton ( "Les Liaisons Dangereuses"), Art won an Olivier Award and the Evening Standard Award for Best Comedy during its highly successful 8 year run in London's West End. Reza poses the question, "Is a white canvas art?" and the answer proves to be a darkly comic, sometimes riotous, study of friendship. An exhilarating evening.
Mull Theatre Co and the Clown Conspiracy "Egg"

Red must protect, love, entertain and educate the precious egg on its journey. ... Pupils from the Glen Urquhart and Cannich Bridge Primary schools made the hall's rafters ring with their laughter and enthusiasm.
What can we say? "The best night at the Hall - ever!". Dozens of children with inexhaustible energy, tango dancers who had driven all the way from Edinburgh, couples young, old and middle aged thronged the dance floor from start to finish. To Mat, Marcus, Stan, Oli, Greg, Andy, Arran, Tom, Alizon, the twins and everyone else - thanks for the magical Carnival and please come back soon....

The Funky String Band. Always welcome at the Hall, the Funky String Band treated us to string wizardry on fiddle, guitar, mandolin and ukelele, and some interesting plectrum acrobatics. Audience foot-tapping became foot-stomping by the end of the evening, so you'll be glad to hear they'll be back next year, with their third album when, hopefully, Luke will remember the CDs....
Tabula Rasa ‘The Winter Room’ is a poetic interpretation through dance, visual images and music of a Northern winter, of solitude, of our desire and need to keep warm. At its heart is the cycle of regeneration; the pattern of creation, destruction and renewal. An entrancing piece of work performed by Brian Hartley and Claire Pençak with music created by Malcolm Lindsay; it spoke directly to anyone who has ever hunched their shoulders against the biting cold and darkness of the North Wind. Dreamlike, this piece continues to haunt, days afterwards.....brrrrrrr! December Old Blind Dogs
Utterly unfazed by a late start due to PA problems, the band hit the ground running and kept the energy levels up all the way through their set of reels, jigs and "miserable songs" old and new. We can't put it better than the Scotsman review "Old Blind Dogs play with a compelling energy and intoxicating rhythm as players and audience seem to share a wild ecstasy of emotion."
Friday Dec 29th The Loveboat Big Band tied up at Glen Urquhart Public Hall for the finale of Drums and Rockets 06! Always a rare treat when the fabulously elusive Loveboat comes into port. The 10 man crew, under the command of Admiral T (pianist Andy Thorburn), included the horn section of Orkestra del Sol and sultry chanteuses Heather Macleod and Kaela Rowan, while the engine room was manned by the Brothers Ivitsky. One of the best nights of the year, it went past far too quickly...
